Something is wrong with the media in West Bengal and, perhaps, elsewhere. That a lot is wrong with the state government is is known to all. But even if it may sound outrageous, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee can be pardoned for letting the Islamists in her state go on a rampaging spree burning Hindu homes. She can be excused for ignoring the vandalising of Durga idols. And fingers may not be raised at her even after a top Imam brazenly issues a fatwa that the state president of another party should be stoned.
Mamata is, after all, a politician who needs to cling to her seat and tightly hold onto power with some help of Islamist vote banks. Of course, she can even drop a word of thanks to the hundreds of “educated elite intellectuals” to whom Godhra was the only riot that happened in India.

Anyway, the social media pointed out that there is a place called Dhulagarh in Howrah where Islamists attacked homes of Hindus for three days from December 13. Some media houses and “secular” journalists either did not cover the incident or claimed that it was a rumour.
Now, thanks to the social media, we have another example of how Islamists are trying to radicalise and destroy the secular peace of Bengal emboldened by the fact that Mamata Banerjee will always look the other way.
A school in Uluberia, a minor city located 28 kilometers from Howrah, was forced to close down after radical Islamists attacked it on December 13 – the Milad ul-Nabi day.
Tehatta High School was forced to close for an indefinite period after a group of outsiders and some students from the school celebrated Milad ul Nabi inside the premises without taking permission. They were influenced by an Islamic group of the city.

The school administration later agreed to let the procession be held for 15 minutes. But radical Islamists attacked the school and vandalised property before driven back by members of Hindu groups.

Following the tense situation, the school administration decided to close it indefinitely. Here is what Utpal Mallick, the teacher-in-charge of Tehatta wrote to the Police:

With due respect I am informing you that on 13th December 2016 some students of class IX, X and outsiders influenced by some local Islamic fundamental groups forcefully entered the school campus causing communal tension celebrated Biswanabi Dibas without taking permission from the school authority and disturbed school atmosphere which caused an unwanted and undesirable situation in the school activities specially Madhyamik and HS Form fill up is being delayed. As a result of this communal tension all the teachers and non teaching staff of the school feel insecure to attend school in the local communally tensed area. So, we are compelled to suspend the school for indefinite period.
I, therefore, request you to take necessary steps to restore the normal situation of the school as early as possible. [sic throughout]
This is just another of the countless examples of how Islamist radicals are increasingly destroying the peace of the state and yet the some “influential” elements in the media are unable to even see it.
